Bruce Robertson, Ph.D.
Board Member
Mr. Bruce Robertson is a Senior Advisor to H.I.G. Capital, a $74 billion global private equity firm. Prior to his current role, he was a Managing Director at H.I.G. for more than 20 years and Co-Head of H.I.G.’s dedicated healthcare fund, H.I.G. HealthBridge Partners. During his tenure at H.I.G. Bruce led a team investing in growth and control deals in the medical device, digital health, and diagnostics sectors.
Mr. Robertson currently serves on the boards of Exagen (NASDAQ: XGN), Zerigo Health, Augmedics, Leiter’s, Nevakar Pharmaceuticals, Click Therapeutics and CardioFocus. His prior investments include Intact Vascular (acquired by Philips), Apollo Endosurgery (acquired by Boston Scientific), Vertiflex (acquired by Boston Scientific), Neuwave Medical (acquired by J&J), Vesper Medical (acquired by Philips), and RxSight (NASDAQ: RXST).
He is also on the investment committee for the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation. His prior volunteer boards include Adventist Healthcare, The University Delaware Research Foundation, The University of Delaware Biomedical Engineering Advisory Board (Chair), and The Johns Hopkins University Investment Fund.
Prior to joining H.I.G., he served most recently as Managing Director at Toucan Capital, a healthcare products fund. Prior to Toucan, he was a General Partner at GIV Venture Partners, a fund focused on investments in the US, India, and China. Prior to his private equity career, he was Director of Business Development at IGEN International, a molecular diagnostics company. He started his career as an engineer and Research Manager at W.R. Grace & Co., focusing on medical devices.
Mr. Robertson holds a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and an M.B.A. with High Distinction from Harvard Business School.
