Medication safety and efficiency are top priorities in every healthcare setting. Pre-filled, ready-to-administer syringes are helping clinicians achieve both. In a recent article published in Outpatient Surgery Center magazine, anesthesia provider Mike MacKinnon, DNP, FNP-C, CRNA, describes the benefits of these single-use syringes.
By removing manual steps like drawing up, diluting, and labeling medications, prefilled syringes may reduce the risk of contamination, dosage errors, and wasted product. They also save valuable time during anesthesia induction, emergency response, and daily workflows, allowing providers to focus more on patient care. As healthcare systems seek both clinical and financial value, prefilled syringes represent a smarter, safer way forward.
“Ready-to-administer syringes reduce the need for manual preparation steps that can be a source of error risk,” says Rita K. Jew, PharmD, MBA, BCPPS, FASHP, president of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP). “Practitioners do not need to create or label the syringe, only verify the dose before administration. Because ready-to-administer syringes come pre-labeled by the manufacturer, they can help lower the risk of wrong medication or wrong concentration errors. Scannable barcode labels can alert practitioners to any discrepancy in dosage or medication being used.”
At Leiters Health, we’re proud to support patient care and deliver reliable, ready-to-administer solutions that healthcare providers can trust. Most of our pre-filled syringes are in stock and available for immediate shipment.
